GPAC President’s Message

Greg Bury, President, GPAC
Director, Business Development, Equinox Engineering Ltd.

2017 was another interesting year for our industry and GPAC. As we have all been working through the downturn in our industry we do see some positive momentum with the rise and stabilization of oil prices. GPAC has not been immune to the challenges that low oil and gas prices have caused, but regardless have had a successful year in supporting and advocating for the natural gas industry in Canada.
This year has been a productive year for GPAC and our Board. We meet formally monthly to discuss various industry related topic and try and provide our membership with valuable information to help them with their operations.

Some of our highlights of 2017 include;
• Hosted multiple lunch speakers at the Calgary Petroleum Club;
• Continued Gas Processing 101 series;
• Continued liaison with both the University of Calgary and SAIT;
• Spoke at the GPA Midstream Conference in San Antonio, Texas on the “State of the Natural Gas Industry in Canada;”
• We are now the chair of the GPA Midstream International Committee;
• Attended Minister Carr’s “Generation Energy” conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba;
• Sit on the Executive Advisory Board for the LNG Canada conference in British Columbia;
• Hosted another successful golf tournament in cool weather at Redwood Meadows;
• Enjoyed our amazing Winter Gala at the Calgary Petroleum Club;
• And sold out our 4th annual GPAC curling event.

We simply cannot achieve the things that we do without the dedication and commitment of our directors, volunteers, and equally importantly our membership. In these time’s it has been hard to maintain our membership and sponsorship base but we encourage you all to help us out by continuing to support and/or sponsor GPAC.
Looking forward to 2018 looks exciting for both GPAC and our industry. We are hopeful that our industry stabilizes and we see an increase in projects and opportunities. GPAC has selected two papers to be presented at the GPA Midstream Conference in Texas in April. We are pleased to have both AltaGas and Pembina Corporation joining us to talk about their Canadian projects and successes.

I look forward to seeing you at our events in 2018 and please feel free to approach myself, or any other GPAC board member, with your ideas, concerns or issues. We appreciate and want your feedback as it is our membership that we serve and are accountable to.

All the best!
